7 Colors, 7 Days... First finished linocut of 2010!

Ooph. Awake since 3:30am. Again. Rather than flop around in bed for who knows how long, I decided to get up and finish the first linocut of the year.

Once again, not a great photo. (sigh) I'll swap it out later when I get a better one, but just wanted to celebrate with everyone before I go back to bed. Which should be any min...... zzzzzzzzzz

  1. It is beautiful! I am amazed you can print 7 colors in 7 days. Don't you have to wait for the ink to dry? If you used a press could you do the same?

  3. Hi Wendy... I add a little dryer to the inks, PLUS I live in a really dry climate. It's a small enough image (only 6x9) and I try to keep the ink layers as thin as I can. (Doesn't always work.) As long as the layer underneath is dry enough to stack prints without them sticking together... it goes okay.

Yes, Jen... hand-rubbed all the way. Crazy woman. I think my already small editions (15 usually) will start getting smaller! :-)

  4. Another terrific linocut Sherrie! When I look at it, I can hear that lovely silence that is found only in a snow-covered woods. It is such a peaceful and soothing piece. A great way to start the year.

hopefully you get to sleep all the way through the night soon, but at the same time we get to see more gorgeous work when you can't.

  6. I'm getting cold just looking at that print!

Gak! If I tried to do anything that required any sort of brain activity at 3.30 am, it wouldn't produce a gorgeous result like that.
